Cleaning TBE
« Reply #-1 on: February 28, 2016, 07:01:26 PM »
So i know TBE is seasoned like a cast iron skillet, but the roast i made had a lot of burnt drippings. I assume this would biuld up quite a bit over time. Should it be scraped off? or how do you deal with it?

You can scrape it if you like. Heavy steel wool can help at times. You can also put the lid on with no food in there and let it run a while. This will burn off some of the buildup.
Don't worry about it to much.  (Or I don't anyway) just be sure it's dry and won't mold.
I have my SRG insert sitting  in ammonia right now. So tomorrow or the next day I can let you know if that works....

Clean the srg, hmm, never really thought about that :).  For me, I just spray with oil after every two cooks or so, and scrapped the bottom once with a paint spatula when it built up quite a bit....   Don't clean the sides, everything I've read says that you want the build up on the sides, it helps with the cooking.

I just scrape the bottom and dump or push the crud through the hole then empty the grease tray.
