New Hunsaker Drum Smoker

I had a Pit Barrel Cooker a few years ago.  A few niggling issues caused me to give up on it.  But I continually missed the way it cooked fowl.  My kamado comes close but I don’t think it’s spot on.

I have been mulling over both the Hunsaker and the Gateway for a long time and settled on the Hunsaker about a year ago.  Then last weekend I saw a bright red one on a showroom floor and bought it without a second thought.  Fondling one was my tipping point.

My first cook was yesterday's Thanksgiving turkey.  I ruined it by leaving the air intake in the START position (pilot error).  Fortunately I had a ham smoking on my kamado so we didn’t have to order pizza.

Here it is.
