Sparky, how long a burn do you get with that charcoal basket and starting the briquettes in the center the way you did?
& where did you get the round charcoal basket?

its a #10 can (peach can or coffee can) w/ both ends cut off.  i put the can in the charcoal ring and fill outside of it w/ charcoal.  leave the can empty.  start up a few briquets and dump them in the middle of the can.  use pliers to pull the can out.  only took once to learn that lesson (you can laugh now.  it was a little funny.  fingers burning and man running to pool for iced pool water to put on them).  don't drink and bbq until the meat goes on.   ::)  the charcoal i had set up lasted me over 8 hours at 260° - 280°.  i will say that i didn't like using the water.  i like a dry pan.  someone said to put lava rocks in the pan and cover it or put sand in it?   i still haven't figured it out yet.  its ok.   :)

That's an amazing tale.  Now you can use that Mak to bribe your son.  If he moves out again he can take the Mak with him.

h#ll no.  he leaves w/ the weber he showed up w/.  the new old mak is going up to the little cabin in the hills we are looking for.  i'm thinking about putting the table and shelf on #69 because she never had one before.  she might like it.  its funny.  even though there both 1 stars they are not completely the same.

Sparky, I remember when you sold that Mak at your yard sale, and you were cooking chicken wings and selling extra grills.  Is this the same guy you told to just go buy a new on?  He returned later with his truck and cash and you sold it to him.  Your ribs look great.

I think all of  y'all are cruel...thinking only of Sparky and not caring about how happy that mistreated grill is to be back home with someone who loves it and knows how to use it.  Be ashamed of yourselves for being so heartless and uncaring.  Dee

Yup, that is pellet grill karma for sure. Better keep that one in the family to be on the safe side.
