Wow...at $3 per lb - that is a strong price, considering that brands like Lumberjack and others offer 100% Hickory  for about $1 per lb...or less ;)

Don't be surprised if you see a cheap, Treager style pellet grill from Char-Broil soon....

Seems everyone is making a knock off Traeger grill these days.

If CharBroil follows suit then to me it proves there is no one doing R&D over there.  They are just looking for the quick buck and that would be a shame  :-[

Traeger no longer has a patent on the design so it is fair game...

Muebe I understand that I'm just saying if they come out with a knock off it just shows they don't want to invest in a new grill they design.

It will take a manufacturer like Char-Broil or Weber to bring pellet grills to the masses. Big box store availability like Lowes or Home depot would help. I would love to see what Weber would come up with ;)

The thing is that a pellet grill will need to seriously "grill" out of the box otherwise people would be dissatisfied with it in general. Something that replaces their gasser or charcoal grill and can do low and slow.

Maybe a gas burner and pellet combination system. The best of both worlds ;)

Was at Home Depot today. No pellet grills :(

Lot of Brinkman offset cookers and gas. No pellet love in Minnesota.

If Weber makes a pellet grill with legendary Weber quality we will all benefit from it. Pellet grilling will definitely be moved more to the forefront if Weber jumps in...........

IMHO muebe has hit the nail on the head to bring pellet "grills" to the masses. I enjoy reading the threads about the pellet cookers and may in fact buy one someday. The biggest attraction to me is NOT the control or the mods (although they sound like fun  ;).) To me the big thing about pellet cookers are the pellets. I really like the fact that they are 100% wood. They are made (for the most part) in a very sustainable way. Contrasted to charcoal briquettes, I love the idea of the pellets. (Although I am NOT giving my PBC up - nope, no way!)

What keeps me from trading the rest of my stuff for a pellet grill - is the grill part. Yep, I get it, I can do some mods and probably make it grill - but as part of the unwashed masses - I don't want to do that. I want to grill on my grill and do the low & slow - both with pellets. I don't want gas for grilling if I'm replacing a gasser.

So, my challenge to Char Broil or Webber (since they are most likely to come in at a reasonable price point) come up with a pellet grill that grills, but can go low & slow as well. Price it affordably. I predict it fly off the floors.
