Since I'm still out of work with this shoulder issue, I have had time to think about cooking, food recipes and cookers
Since the 2014 cookout in GA I have wanted a pizza oven in my back yard. I have read many threads and watched many videos on the subject and even started one oven but my nephew has let me down so far on bending the metal for me so I can build it.
So while waiting on him I went another route and found a video where a guy uses a workout ball. He pours fireplace concrete over half the ball to make the main oven then cuts the front opening. looks cool but I cant do that for a few more weeks cause of the shoulder.
I have the ball and will build the frame soon but in the mean time I turned my thoughts on the pellet pooper I built
By removing the drip plate and installing the grill grate with fire brick this gives me the chance to set a pizza stone on top of the brick and reach temps well above 500. As you will see in the pictures below I cooked a pizza (store bought frozen)
pizza in 8 mins while the pizza stone hit 521 degrees
No it's not the perfect oven but it works and cost me $0.00 to assemble a pizza oven (sorta) out of a home built SRG/pellet smoker
Maybe someday I will own a real pizza oven, but till then I think this will work just fine
