Congratulations on your new mak partner.  I'm thinking about getting one when I get to Washington.
Make the short drive to Mak HQ. Bet they would love to meet the legend

Have you settled on a 1 or 2 Star?

Don't know yet.  I have always liked the 1 stars a little more.  It has a more stable wider base.  I never use the side smoke chamber on the 2 star.  The both have the same size racks.  I like the black on the 1 stars.  The 2 stars stainless you are always trying to keep clean.  You don't worry about on the 1 stars.  The 1st stars are cheaper by $1000.  The flame zone in my opinion is good for high heat cooking.  I don't do that with the maks.  That's what my Weber is for.  I do like the flame zone because it keeps the grease out of the belly of the 1 stars.  That's the only reason for me.  So the 1 star with the flame zone would work.  Since I'm moving up to the Seattle area I plan on smoking a lot of salmon ( my wife loves my smoke salmon a lot and she makes me butterscotch pudding ) so the multiple racks on the 2 star would work very well.  Won't know which one I end up with until I visit the mak plant in August.

Gotcha! They are both fantastic as you know. In my opinion, the 2 Star cannot be worn out... EVER. I like that about it :)
