Great to have you here MSP!
One of the greatest assets we have at LTBBQ is the knowing - that EVERYONE here, no matter how new to outdoor cooking, or how tenured they may be - has something to contribute to the pool of information.
I am continually reminded of this every time a new member that is also new to outdoor cooking offers up an idea that is fresh and new.
It just reminds me that we all have a tendency toward becoming sedentary in our habits. Rationally - this is partially due to being comfortable with our successes. And - it is also a slight fear that if we change a given method/approach to cooking, we will somehow damage our confidence in our own abilities.
(O.K....enough of the psycho-babble...we all are lazy when we can be - and it takes a fresh approach to make us learn something!
