So I took the good ol family meatball recipe and decided to wrap them in bacon and throw in the SRG. I stuffed a few with cheese and coated some with Jan's rub. The were a bit over cooked as I wanted a nice crispy shell, but they were a hit with the family! Congratulations! You've (re)discovered Moink (MOO + OINK) Balls, a recipe/concept generally attributed to a guy named Larry Gaian of the BBQ Grail back about 9-10 years ago. Do a search (for "moink") here on LTBBQ and you'll get some good ideas for variations. They are tasty little puppies, aren't they?

Not if you're from The Ukraine . . .

I thought Ukrainians mixed rice and bacon in with the beef - didn't know they wrapped the bacon on the outside.
-
That's just not what they call a "Moink."
