We have been invited to our neighbors to watch this years super bowl. Since the lady of the house is a devoted vegan I would like to bring some finger food prepared on the MAK 2 Star that she too could enjoy with the rest of us that don't have the same restrictive diet. Any suggests or recipes are most certainly welcome.

Dave....look at this vegan ka-bob idea. Looks almost good enough to eat

Tee I’m interested in the vegan kabob. I don’t see the link or recipe that you may have posted

I would eat that.
But I would want ten or fifteen of those meaty items I see in the picture with it.

Well at least a couple of you wanted to try and help. Thank you two. As far as making fun of a Vegan I personally think thats pretty narrow minded. We all make choices and I have no doubt those that are making fun also enjoy it when someone makes a joke about your decisions. It's not what they want to eat but the person that makes it count.

Dave, that's not fair. Tee sent you the link for the vegan recipes but he also made this comment -"Looks almost good enough to eat". Perhaps you missed the humor in it. It's funny! Lighten up bro.... :)

SMOKED BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER
1 lb. cauliflower florets
1 tbsp salted butter
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp ancho rub (or any bbq rub)
Melt butter and add olive oil, toss florets in the mixture. Season florets and place in a foil pan. Smoke at 175° for 30 minutes, then raise temperature to 350° and continue cooking for 30 minutes or until fork tender. Toss florets in buffalo sauce, return to a foil tray (without any excess sauce) and continue to smoke at 375° for an additional 5 minutes to set the sauce. Serve with ranch or bleu cheese.
BUFFALO SAUCE
2/3 cup Crystal Hot Sauce
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Melt butter and add hot sauce, bring to a simmer. Add remaining ingredients and thoroughly combine.
VEGAN ACCOMODATION: Substitute vegan butter in lieu of dairy butter. "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" makes a vegan alternative that I'd likely use.

Just curious why you think my comment was towards Tee? It was actually a general comment towards those that IMHO mocked this neighbor. One of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Has fought cancer twice into remission and the only diet that helps her to feel as good as she does is vegan. Is it my choice of diets, absolutely not but I'll be danged if I would make fun of her or anyone that makes a choice on diet that is different than mine. We all have our own body chemistry and what works for you very well is different for others. I'm all for joking around however in this case this person is worth defending. Tease me all you want and I just may return the favor.

Whether it was tee, me, or someone else, if your neighbor was upset by our comments, we certainly apologize - there was no offense meant.
If, on the other hand, you were the one who was bothered by what you apparently (incorrectly) perceived as an attack on your friend, then, as Salmonsmoker said, you need to lighten up. You're taking us (and, more importantly, yourself) much too seriously.
If you frequent BBQ-related sites you should pretty much expect to see a fair amount of humor (or attempted humor) directed at vegan & vegetarian lifestyles. If you feel a need to address those comments, you could more effectively do so in the spirit in which they were written instead of immediately getting your hackles up and branding someone as "narrow minded." If that "lighter" approach isn't combative enough for you, maybe you need to find somewhere else to hang out.
Jus' sayin'...

Hang Loose Yourself....Just sayin
Apparently you place yourself in the position of determining who visits this site. Perhaps with this self imposed power have my account shut down. Shameful when anyone can't voice a concern or disagree without someone telling you to move on. To many have forgotten our right to have an opinion.

I’m a vegan for 4 to 5 days a weeks. I eat meat only 2 to 3 times a week for dinner only. I do this for health reasons. I for one look forward to seeing a veg bbq dish. Make your neighbor a dish you can find on the internet called “raise the roof lasagna” . It’s some work involved but you can put it together the night before maybe and bake it that day. Your neighbor would be floored by how good it is.

I have been chastised soundly for allegedly missing my own point. I'd sulk if I weren't laughing so hard.
-
Dave I joke around with my friends about my love of meat diet all the time...….SO I went outside & yelled at myself for five minutes for doing this.
look my daughter is a Vegan & I eat her food at times...…..but I still joke about it.
We have fun on here at times. Have fun!!!!

O.K. kids.....
Look...some of us have health related issues that force us to choose different ways to enjoy our food. And the rest of us WILL make some changes/new choices as we gain birthdays - *IF* we want to stay healthy and vertical and above the ground as long as possible. That is just part of the human condition. This place is about BBQ and FUN...So, let us not be harsh when picking on someone. Make certain that your attempt at humor is clearly that...HUMOR... And - if you are the subject of such - try to to bounce it back to the "picker" with some humor. If he/she was serious...you can send a message without having to be too frustrated, and maybe everyone can learn a little something: That the strong oak may break in a storm...but the flexible reed endures..." This ain't just Philosophy 101.... it is about accepting that tho we all share a commonality - we are all different in many ways. Learn from one another. Stop being stubborn. Those who choose to be inflexible cannot face their own future, and be content....heck even happy ;) ;D

D@mn, and to think that I almost didn't start reading this thread . . .
BTW, Pam, do you know why they could never serve your Vegan meal in Poland ? ? ?
That's right, the lady with the recipe died ! ! !
(Not a Vegan, but I am half Polish and my mom approved of this joke. So, please accept it in the spirit in which it was given)

Oh yeah..now we're trashing pollocks! I am also half polish, so I approve of that comment as well! :) I heard more polish jokes from my Dad (polish) than anyone I've ever met. He was a lot of fun, and made light of damned near everything and everyone. It taught me to be the reed in the storm. So, by the way, blow me!! :D ;D

Gotta learn to bend or you will break..my dad told every kind of jokes..he spared no one but everyone laughed..not many laugh any more..and BigDawg..lovin it..I sent that pic to my hubby when he had to diet..now that i think of it..he wasn't amused either..I just don't hear jokes any more and they used to be abundant.. .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

I am half Polish also and I resent that joke because she did not die, she just forgot. The death was just a cover story so people would not make fun of her. Obviously it did not work so they are working on a new cover story.

These Vegan threads are much more interesting than the meat threads these days ;D ;D :D :D
