Hey all. Looking into buying a new grill. I am debating between a campchef wifi or the rec tec rt340. Anyone have any experience with both and can give me some advice. thanks.

I have the Rec Tec RT 590. The RT 340 is the smaller version of this one. All stainless steel, excellent controller with dual food probes and fantastic customer service. I don't know anything about the Camp Chef. I have owned several pellet grills and I have found that the RT 590 is one of the best I have owned. Temperatures across the grill great are within a degree of 2 of set point. I have verified this several times with different temps and cooks. I have the Davy Crockett tailgate grill and I am going to end up buying the RT 340 as it is bigger and with the great wifi and other improvements it is a no brainer for me. I will be "gifting" my Davy Crockett to my other son. The one in Florida has already received my Blaz'n Grill Works Grid Iron and Traeger junior.

Rec-Tec is the way I would go. They are just built better than a Camp Chef IMHO

Ok great! Then ill be getting the rec tec....side note, how long do they take to ship. I'm trying to get one before fathers day.

They are putting quick on shipping. Mine wasn't shipped since I live a few hours away from them I just drove up and picked them up. You should get it before Father's Day. Give them a call and they will be more than glad to help you out. I ordered from their website, not Amazon.

Alright I’m gonna order mine today. I really hope they ship fast.

I have owned both Camp Chef and Rec Tec
The Rec Tec is the way to go
Also check out the Grilla Grills Chimp while you are at it

HighonSmoke, If the kids don't want the Davy Crockett, I have a good home for it. :)

Can anyone recommend any good pellets, besides cookingpellets.

You can try lumberjack, bear mountain, B&B and kingsford. I have used all except bear mountain. My favorite now is the B&B competition blend. You can get them at any Academy sports.

Have you tried the RECTEC blend? Is it any good?

Oh yeah most definitely good. Pricey but clean burning with very little ash. I am on my 3rd bag now and no problems at all. What smoker did you end up getting?

Has anyone tried putting wood chips on the heat deflector for extra smoke? Just curious.
