Title: Tempted
Post by: sliding_billy on July 04, 2013, 07:59:40 PM
I am not normally one to pay a lot for premium grade meat for BBQ, but... my butcher has Wagyu Tri-Tip on sale for $11.99/lb and Prime brisket for $3.99/lb this week.  Both prices are through the 10th, so I am trying to figure out if I can earn enough "wife points" by next Wednesday to justify a $30 Tri-Tip and a $50 brisket.  If you don't hear from me next weekend, I am either cooking the two greatest pieces of meat ever or I am dead.  ???

I ended up doing neither of them.  My wife made plans for the weekend, and there was no way I was going to freeze meat that expensive.

The other issue was I got a complete B.S. speeding ticket .  I was blocked in at a light and needed to change lanes to get to the side of the road that the street I needed to get home was on.  I sped up for about two seconds to get in front of traffic, and saw lights.  I even knew the cop was there.  that's how ridiculous it was.  Need proof of what a cash grab tickets are... In Texas you can do deferred disposition, pay your fine and go on probation for 90 days without the ticket ever being reported if you don't do it again while on probation.

I didn't have the nerve to spend any extra money after dropping $170 on the ticket.

$170 is pocket change. Try getting a speeding ticket in California!  ???

I had two fix-it tickets that ended up being close to $400 with court costs. A speeding ticket out here will start at $400!

I will take a ticket anyday over the $3800 veterinary bill I just got for my cat for a eight day stay and they still really did not pinpoint what was wrong with him. But he is pulling through :)

Ouch in the ticket prices.  I will never ever complain again.  My last speeding ticket was for $35. Going 79 in a 70.  Which to this day I swear it was going 72.

I think steep prices for both are too much but you only live once and you can say the best you ever had whether it was or not!  ;D I like to drive in PA they tell you on signs how much it will cost you to speed in 10 MPH increments! Don

One thing I have learned when it comes to bbq related purchases... it easier to beg forgivness than ask permission.

Not sure how I pulled it off, but I lived through a couple of weeks and my butcher let me have some wagyu for a little better the original sale price.  I picked up 2 tri-tips (a 2.5 lb and a 2 lb) and a 10 lb brisket (wagyu - the original sale was for prime, so this is an even better deal IMO).  Total price was around $90.  I am not sure what my plans are yet except that I will be cooking the brisket this weekend for sure.  Might do one of the tri-tips medium and one trisket.  I might freeze the tri-tips for a later cook.  I'll post a new thread later.
