Cook times for turkey on high?
« Reply #-1 on: November 23, 2015, 02:54:50 PM »
How's it look do you think for a 14 pound turkey?  I'm guessing if it took 90 minutes to do a 5lb Pork butt it'd take close to 3 hrs for a 14 pound turkey on high?

Any experiences?

Has anyone tried a Styrofoam cooler for FTC?

Days are getting short until the big cook!  I can't wait, i've got 2 5lb Pork Butts that i'll start about 10AM at the same time - side by side.  then hoping for noon in with the Turkey - with dinner by 3 (if i'm accurate for above time).

far as cooking times i've found a couple quick notes that indicate about 2 hours for a 14-15 pound turkey.  might make me push my -in- time to almost 12:30 to have it out by 2:30-2:45

Turkey like any other meat is done when it wants to be done.  A 14lb bird according to CharBroil will take 10 mins a pound or 2hrs 20mins but do not go by this.

I go by IT of the thigh 165 is best before letting it rest.

How long do you let it rest Tommy? Do you tent it or leave it open to rest?
Love to cook and eat

Resting time 10 mins then take into the house and set on counter for another 10 mins.   Lid open to rest in chamber this really crisp up the skin yet it won't dry it out.

Now if NO brine or Injection only let it rest 5 mins then remove just to be safe
