welp, my son and i went fishing yesterday. it rained cats and dogs. we used old hippie rain suit (large leag bag w/ head and arms cut out. we didn't catch sh!t. ok, the story gets better here. we show up at home (my son moved home :'( ) and a truck was parked out front of my house w/ a mak 1 star in the back of the bed. this guy and a lady jumped out of the truck. the lady walks up to me and says "heh, did you sell this pellet grill to my husband?" yes maam. she says, "its yours again. don't ask questions." i did ask questions (i'm kinda a smart @ss and she wasn't my wife so i wasn't that afraid of her). i asked her why? she then told me that since her husband got the 1 star her husband has used it only twice. twice!! the second one had attitude. well, her husband when out and bought a new $3k gas grill. the guy doesn't cook anything. so, she says it was take the new $3k grill back or give me the mak 1 star back since he never used it. i told her i wasn't buying it back from her. she said, "no problem". her husband was donating it back to someone who knew how to use it. i gave her a hug and thanked her husband for the kind gift. he wasn't happy. she was. welp, they left after we unloaded out of the back of his truck.
so,
welcome back #69. miss ya.
now i have mak 1 star #69 & #315.
it was alittle icky in the inside. so a good cleaning and a 500° burn in was in order.
flame on brother. glad your home. and since somone bought me some ribs i fired up the 18 WSM also.
its cold, windy and raining. burr...... needed a wind break.
i start my WSM's w/ the coffee can method. got 1 hunk of cherry.
last time i cooked ribs everyone said i should cook ribs w/ water. so i added a pan of water on top of the bottom grate. i couldn't get the temp above 230°. so i opened up the door to get more air. all vents were opened up all the way. i got the temp to 300° so i closed the door and let it settle.
did i hear ribs.
slap yo daddy meat rub on 1 rack and money on the other.
everyone in the pool.smoke on my friends. this is going to be a great cook. no FL. these are going to be cooked dry.
its cold and wet. need a latte and some brandy. WSM is running perfectly.
3 hours in. looking good so far.
WSM ribs on left and mak ribs on right.
cut some up from both cookers.
the mak ribs were better and the money rub had the best flavor. so once again the mak ribs win.
chili time. never made chili like this before. i cut up the rib meat off the bones. fried up some bacon and put the rib meat in. and Waa Laa.
Sparky's Rib Chili.
my family loved the flavor. it was good.
