Have done it a few times in a crock pot with good results. ....When couldn't do low and slow. I had a pressure cooker that my mama had, don't really know what happened to it. I used it a few time and been thinking about getting another. If used right I think they are safe, but got to use as directed.My mama used it for years and never a problem.

The modern pressure cookers are foolproof anymore. Three or four safety devices prevent major mishaps. I love mine. It's a Fagor 8 qt.

Mine is a 5L Futura that has been in my kitchen for over 20 years and it has never failed.
