The weather is just right. COLD!! We haven’t had beef stew in a really long time. I was a going to try something a bit different with my recipe. I had a ti-tip in the freezer that had a touch of freezer burn. Trimmed it up and then sliced and cubed it for beef stew. Seasoned the cubed up beef with Top Secret 2 and flour and browned it off in my Dutch oven using some avocado oil. I like this oil. High smoke point and no noticeable additional flavor.

I had to add a little Pinot Noir to the pot. I also saved enough for the cook. This is from Trader Joe’s. About $8 a bottle around here in NC. I like their Black Mountain products. Great price point and pretty good flavor.

I added some wine to deglaze the pot.

I added some veggies after the meat had cooked about an hour. In addition I added a couple of cans of mushroom soup and a jar of mushrooms. This always makes some fine gravy.

Here is the finished product. Boy, the smells throughout the house were fantastic. You can smell them, right?

If that won't warm you up on a cold winter day, nothing will. Looks great.

Might be a candidate for first cook in my new Dutch oven!
I though I was the only one who used Wondra!

I'd love a bowl of that stew Art! By looking at it you know that it just doesn't smell great, it tastes great as well!
I really like Trader Joe's too for wines!

Looks great, might have to make a pot of it to get us through the cold spell coming up next week. Highs are only going to be in the upper 50's to low 60's, time to break out the parkas. :P

Make sure you go get plenty of snake bite medicine. I hear those "cold weather snakes" are particularly deadly.
