Title: New Braunfels Black Diamond
Post by: akruckus on June 13, 2016, 08:16:30 AM
Excited to announce I found New Braunfels Black Diamond on Craig's list and picked it up Sunday afternoon.  The guy sold it to me with firebricks for the bottom to help even the heat, along with the heat deflector.  He also threw in the IQ110 temperature control, but not sure how much I will use it.  I checked the stock thermometer and it showed 225 when I stuck the probe end in boiling water so it isn't that far off either.  Just need a cover for when not in use, but pretty excited to have solid stick burner!

The black diamond is legendary among stick burners. They were built in New Braunfels Texas and were made stout...before Char Broil "China'd" them up  :(

Congrats..............and lets get to cooking something  8)

I have a NBBD (in fact, it's my profile pic).  I really love it.  I don't use it as much as I used to, but I do break it out every once in a while.  I think you're gonna love it.

I am going to have to wait a few weeks, and the suspense is killing me. With this weekend being Father's Day weekend, weekend meals are away from the old homestead, plus Fridays I man the grill for dinner at my second job with a great view.  Next summer they will have pizza oven, at which point I will move over there and make that my Friday night gig.

Hi Bill, I forgot you had one................if I still lived in the valley, I would be over at your place, "borrowing" it  ;)

Backyard stick burners work best when they aren't your only cooker ::)
They're made for good weather, a day at home without a lot to do , adult beverages  8)
Remember don't make this too much work.
Smoke butts & brisket for about 6 hours, foil & finish on your gasser!
