Saw a pic this morning of a Yoder ys1500 loaded down (almost) with ribs. Not at all knocking the Yoders as I used to be so drawn to the roominess of the 1500 model. That “draw” kind of went away when I realized first hand a couple of months ago just how roomy the new MAK 2 Stars really are with all grates in place. It’s amazing what headroom can do in a cooker! It can be very deceptive when looking at a cooker from the outside... kind of like stick burners vs cabinets :)
Big ole “Y” vs my lil “M”...

Wowzers. Is that fifteen racks o' ribs? Looks like you could've maybe even squeezed one more!

Yes sir! 15 racks of St. Louis spares... and yep, could’ve tucked one more in there :)

WOW great use of a MAK. Did you make the racks?

Nope, the 2019 models come with slots for 3 additional upper grates for total of 1608 sq”. Love it!!! :)

Wowser!! I see you took on the grease management issue with that foil draped over the front. Doesn't that cut off the air flow from the front section of the FZ cover?

I guess size does matter. Please don't tell SWMBO.

Oh no, that’s a separate piece of foil just crimped over the lip of the cook chamber. No airflow restriction whatsoever. I only do that for large messy cooks as it keeps drips and junk off the front of the cooker.

Yep, and sometimes what appears to be small can really surprise a person when they take a closer look... lol

Robb, do you find you have to rotate the ribs from top to bottom to have an even cooking time or do they all pretty much finish at the same time without rotating?

I have cooked ribs at multiple levels numerous times. Never really noticed much of a difference. I typically cook at fairly low temps when smoking. The upper grate is typically 20ish° hotter than the main grate but it doesn’t seem to change things all that much.
