I absolutely love my Baking Steel! Decided to change up the burgers tonight and griddle them......

Nothing like the crust that forms from the griddle

Now THAT is one way to oil your steel and prevent rust! ;D Bet they were tasty!
-
Great pics. My family likes them griddled too

Very Nice!!

In sight, it must be right!!

That is a beautiful batch of burgers! When the weather cools, I typically heat a Lodge cast iron griddle on the grill and do my burgers on it. Tim Love, a Dallas chef who also has a great 'Q restaurant, is a big advocate of searing meats this way ... all things being equal I think it yields a great textural element and a much juicier patty than straight grilling.

Great looking burgers.

I love burgers on a flat top - just like the old diner days! I never thought to use my baking steel - nice idea and great looking burgers! Thanks!

Great looking burgers. Digging that crust on them.

Awesome looking burgers

Great looking burgers and nice pictures! Lately I seem to prefer a 'flat top' type cook on the grill for my burgers. Where did you find that Baking Steel? 'cause now I NEED one. ;)

Those burgers look great! There is something special about burgers grilled on a flat top like that ;)
-
Man that melted cheese on those burgers is to die for - looks really good ;)

Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Good looking burgers!!! I love them this way and if you don't have the baking steel use the back side of grill grates! Don

I have got to get me one of those steels.

I think a fast-seared burger on the flat top is one of life's real treats! I also like the flavor of good old fashioned charcoal broiled burgers (this is where a Weber kettle really shines). But, there's a way to almost get the best of both worlds: Reverse sear some moderately thick patties for about thirty minutes (my old Traeger does this well) then flash cook them on a steel, griddle, or (as suggested) even the back side of Grill Grates. You'll get the tasty caramelization from the fry and a subtle tinge of smoke from the reverse sear.

I have several griddles I cook on, normally on my Camp Chef stove. I use them for burgers, steaks, fajitas, blackening fish or chicken.

Nothing like flat top burgers! I use my Lodge cast iron reversible skillet for them... works great!
