Title: Back at it with the Uuni
Post by: muebe on January 05, 2014, 08:35:04 PM
Finally get to fire up the Uuni after moving. Been craving some wood fired goodness.

Here are the players. This time I tried a pre-made Pillsbury Pizza crust that my wife had bought for a different cook...

I took the dough that was good for one thick crust pizza and divided in half. Then rolled them out as thin as I could...

Uuni setup on the back table...

Fire in the hole!

Artichoke, onion, tomato, mozzarella, and red sauce...

Avocado, onion, tomato, mozzarella, and red sauce...

Close ups...

Smoky wood fired goodness!

I can say the crust was not bad but did not taste as good as homemade and was a real pain to roll. I have another package to use so the next will be that crust again.

Now I don't know if you guys remember I installed a fan speed controller on the Uuni. Well this was my first time using the controller and it worked great. I was able to dial the fan speed in to get real heat but not burn the pizza. It gives you real temp control on this thing.... Nice!

Do you have to clean the surface before you put the pizza in?  What do you use?

Have you tried the PZ trick of rolling it out fold it in 1/2 then in 1/2 again then roll thin?  Tried it the other day and i did like the way the crust came out.  Wasn't on a wood fire pizza oven though  :(

I tried that dough last week. It works in a pinch, but not great.

Can Pappy get a slice with some MEAT on it?

Last time I had veggie pizza was on the second date with my wife. We ordered pizza in, and she said veggie was her favorite. Since this was the second date, veggie pizza also was my favorite. ;D

That sure does look like wood fired goodness. Glad the temperature control mod worked!

I just use a wire brush on the interior floor. The thing gets so hot that pretty much everything left on the floor turns into carbon.

Have not tried that method. This pre made dough is tough to work with. Next time I make my own dough I will give that method a try.

Pappy I know it is tough to believe but even without meat these pizzas were really good! ;)
