Leg Quarters and Strip Steak
« Reply #-1 on: September 13, 2014, 01:15:48 PM »
Chicken was smoked in the offset for a few hours with pecan then finished in the kamado.  Steak was cooked directly over the coals in the kamado.  I had the brilliant idea the other day to buy a 13.5" Weber charcoal grate (the one from the 18.5" grills) to put where the deflector plate sits in the Woo ring in my Vision.  Got me a cooking grate nice and close to the fire, and it fit perfectly.  I love it when a plan comes together.  Tinker is waiting patiently for lunch.

P.S. Yes that is KBB in the kamado.  ;D  Works absolutely perfectly and it takes me no longer to vacuum the ash out than it does with lump.  I have no issues at all with the extra ash causing air intake issues even when cooking for 12+ hours.

Yeah, that was 10 pounds of quarters (12 of them).  Nothing like a couple of strips as "appetizers."  :D
