A late ham
« Reply #-1 on: April 12, 2015, 09:43:31 PM »
Didn't get to do a ham for Easter - but did get to take advantage of the sales! 99 cents a pound for a decent ham. Slathered with CYM and some FS&B and Pig Candy - it seemed like the sweetness would be a nice touch - and it was!

Put it on my mystery smoker this afternoon with some hickory and maple - just smelled good together. About 7.5#. Thought it would be about 3 hours - was actually closer to 4.5 (had to explain to women folk about it's done when it's done...)  ;) ;D

Added some corn and some scalloped potatoes. Made some very simple cheese & bacon biscuits. A big glass of very cold milk. Although a bit late, a very nice dinner. Looking forward to some soup and sandwiches this week!

How long is this mystery smoker gonna remain a mystery smoker D-Holly??  ;) ;)

Dang, I am sorry. But I promised the company that was doing the test I would not say who they were. I could post cooks, but had to keep their name out of it. It HAS been a long time, and they have not commercialized it (not sure why not - I love it!) I've sent the product manager (who may or may not be there anymore) a note asking permission to talk about it.

But in reality, it is an electric smoker - has an easy to use water tray and smoke box. 5 shelves - Bradley racks fit easily - that's what I use. You can set temp and time on a digital pad - holds the temp very close over many hours even in the winter.

Talking with my brother last night - while I appreciate the burning of coals and wood - given my life, kids, wife, laziness, etc....  ;) ;) this just makes sense.

Thanks for looking.

D
