If you smoke it - I fear it may be dry. Of course, I have not smoked one yet...SO hopefully others ( especially the West Coast Gang
) will chime in Ron.
But I can tell you that if you will hot grill it - internal temp to 115F - then foil wrap, and towel it until the internal temp rises to 125F - it may become your new favorite!
Just my experience with Tri-Tip and this particular rub/marinade......
