New toy: ceramic cooker

Yesterday I got a new toy: a ceramic cooker:





Of course I fired the new cooker up to grill some Luxemburgian Wine Saucisses:



I was so excited with the egg that I forgot to take a picture of the sausage before pulling them - so here they are ready cooked on the plate:



The sausage was great and I'm looking forward to the weekend for doing some more cooks on the new toy!

Awesome. Do they have lump coal over there, looks like your using charcoal. I use lump coal in my primo grill. Your going to love that ceramic grill for long cooks.

Edit: I was looking at this on my cell phone when I said that looked like charcoal. I see now it is lump coal

It's a no brand cooker.

One trader here in Germany buys them very cheap in China and offers them on ebay. If you're lucky you can get a cooker for cheap money. I'm aware of the fact that it's got a lower quality standard, but I got a good cooker for the price I've paid.

If I had to choose between regular priced ceramic cookers, I'd prefer a Primo Oval XL: You have plenty of surface to cook on and you can use it for direct and indirect heat at the same time without any problems to change the setup.

I also prefer the Primo over Big Green Egg but the XL is more than we need. 

Reason I am looking into purchasing a ceramic cooks is becasue I don't have one and will like a new adventure in cooking.  Ya know, the boys and their toys thing.  Also, I can use my Rock's Stoker on one.

Becasue this is an add on for fun I am not looking to buy the most expensive ceramic cooker but I am wondering is there are cheap ones to stay away from?

WC...great looking new komodo ya got!!  The owner of the Co. I work for has had one for years. His Dad would buy them in Japan after WW1 for 5.00  and would fly em back to the states.

When I was growing up my Dad had a big old ceramic pot or bucket that was covered with what looked like pewter. It's original purpose was to heat up those old style hand held soldering irons before you had fancy electric or gas ones. It was probably about 14 inches in diameter and he found a grate that fit on top of it and it made a perfect grill that we always took camping. He cooked many a good meal on top of it.

WC a few years back I looked at all the Kamado ceramic eggs I could find, and the one from China you bought was the only one with all the good features- all stainless hardware, stainless cart, bamboo fold out shelves. There are many new ones out there in the last few years, but I still think you got the best deal

Earlier this a year a friend bought an 18" BGE. When he shopped for one, he couldn't believe how much they wanted for the tables that were available to support the egg. So he asked me if I'd help him make one. We built this one for a little over $100 in pressure treated lumber and stainless screws.
