Adding a shelf
« Reply #-1 on: July 03, 2020, 12:19:35 AM »
I had a stainless shelf from an old gas grill that I got rid of years ago. Thought I would add it to my MB560.  So I bought some shelf brackets from Amazon.
I don't have welding equipment or skills and didn't want to put holes through the top. So I attached a couple of 2X4's painted black to attach the brackets.

I was also concerned that the weight could tear thru the 560 metal so I added a couple of pieces of flat angle iron inside the 560 to put the bolts through. Probably overly cautious but better safe than sorry.

All in all it came out pretty good especially since it only cost me a few dollars for the brackets.

Why couldn't Noah have swatted the 2 mosquitoes?.

Nice mod. Looks pro from my perspective. I'm guessing someone from MB will see your photos, and it will be an option on the next model.

How cool! And what a great labor saver - now when I come visit we can eat right at the grill without worrying about setting the dining table and clearing it when we're done.

That is clearly the best mod for a grill I have ever seen!. So....If you remember the Brand and model of the grill it came from - could you post that so that other MB560 owners can source a shelf for theirs? And - if not...I will bet a lot of guys will be looking around for stainless lids from old kitchen equipment, grills, etc. for sure!

Sorry Tee, in 1998 when I bought a house in Los Angeles the grill came with it. At that time it was about 6 years old. When I moved to AL in 2000 I brought it with me. After a few years it started to fall apart. By this time the nameplate was unreadable. So I took the shelf off and junked the rest. I wish I did know the name because it had a unique hinge that didn't need a bracket. Unfortunately I can't find where I put them so I had to buy the brackets.
