I have never understood the Wedge - not being critical to those who love them. Is this any different that just a bowl of iceberg with dressing and toppings? I really want to know if I missing something.BD

I prefer the area closer to the core of a head of iceberg. the wedge leaves all this intact, providing a crispy crunchy bite as opposed to the individual layers of iceberg peeled away or separated. Typically served well chilled dressing and all. The wedge provides a slightly different taste as the area closer to the core has a different taste than the outer leaves. In the old days (pre 2020) of salad bars, I would always pick through the lettuce and get the chunks that were the dense leaved areas closer to the core.
