Pizza on the BGE
« Reply #-1 on: February 23, 2012, 11:14:42 AM »
I made BBQ Chicken Pizza on my BGE last night.

I bought the dough from the Wolfgang Puck shop in Gelson's (only a dollar per pizza).  I smoked the chicken earlier in the day and made my own Jack Daniels barbecue sauce.  Added smoked Gouda, mozzarella cheese and purple onions.  The BGE was pegged at 750*.  Each pizza took about three minutes to cook on the BGE pizza stone.  I was very happy with the results.

Agreed! Same with pellet grills or any charcoal/wood-fired grill.  Folks who haven't had wood-fired pizza just don't know what they're missing!  Awe man... just thinking about this... now I'm hungry again!

I think that is the heat deflector that you use in the BGE for doing indirect cooking Pam. Correct me if I am wrong Egg-Heads 8) ;D

Yes, that is a ceramic heat deflector for indirect cooking.  It's topped in foil to catch drippings when I smoke meat on the grill.  It didn't need to be foiled for the pizza cook because nothing drips from the pizza stone, but I forgot to remove the foil when I started cooking.

I was wondering because I just use charcoal direct, but I have 2 - 14" cast iron pans and it works great. Last time I grilled pizzas, we did 12 of them at the campground. Everyone said..you can't grill pizza..OH HUH.   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.
