I got a couple of splits cut in half to roughly 8" lengths. gonna see how they burn the next cook I do. The 16 inch lengths take a bit to get going and if they burn good cut in half I will look for a chop saw. Harbor Freight has a nice one for 99.00.........

That was the other thing... I mentioned to him that I had enough room in my firebox for full 18s but preferred shorter thinner splits.  The stock he loaded for me almost looked like it had been chopped (12-14) and re-split.  It was perfect length and thickness.
