I am considering buying a new camera and I see some mighty fine photos that folks have posted. Some others might be like I am and would appreciate your input...............Thanks JJ

for the most part I just use my galaxy s3 camera and send them over to my computer before uploading.

I am using a Nikon D7000 and most of the time use my 40mm macro lens for food photos.
If I am real lazy then I use my Sony Point and Shoot. ;)

Last year I bought one of those Nikon D5200 cameras. When you take the time to learn all of the stuff you can do with it it is a wonderful camera. It is the bottom of the DSLR camer that Nikon makes and there are many sales on these types of cameras. I have taken some really nice photos with it but must times when I am in a hurry I grab my I-phone and snap a picture. Computer software does some amazing things for bad photos also ;D

We got the Nikon CoolPix P520 for Christmas.
It has a lot of flexibility for manual adjustments - which I like experimenting with - but it also has a number of automatic settings for goof -proof shots like I NEED. It also shoots video in full 1080p HD.
After I have the pics I want, I transfer the memory card to the computer, download, and they are ready to post...way yonder easier than the "old way" I had to do it.
The one negative is...I can't make any phone calls with it. 8)

8mp camera on my Galaxy S3, Bluetooth it to my laptop then resize it for the web in PS, then upload.

Canon 60D --> Picasa album on the PC --> choose subset to upload to Picasa web albums --> use URL to post in topics

Canon t4i>Photobucket unless I need a quick shot, and then Galaxy S4.

When I'm feeling lazy I use my Iphone and tapatalk to upload... quick and easy. When I want to take the time on cooks I really want to document well I use a Nikkon D3200 and photobucket.

I use my Olympus E620 and do a little touch up in photoshop elements. I upload to Photobucket to post. Don

My 3 rules of photography
1) the best camera is the one in your hand, most daytime pics taken with I-phone.
2) when taking pics during travel someone needs to be n the pic, otherwise buy the postcard.
3) cameras on phones fail when you need a flash.
For my second camera I have a compact high zoom fugifilm.
Several manufacture this type. Fits in shirt pocket & takes good distance & flash pics.

Samsung Galaxy S3, then upload to computer & edit in Irfanview. I usually only resize & sharpen, as I want to accurately show what I'm cooking. I have a Canon SX150 that I need to learn to use, because the all-auto setting pics have not been satisfactory so far.
Would love for Santa to bring me a DSLR, but the budget committee vetoed that, and that would require more learning on my part.

I use three devices, depending on what's handy at the time.
1. Nikon D5100 DSLR with Tamron 28-75mm lens. The D5000 series are a great entry-level cameras for folks wanting to enter the DSLR world. I do all my post-processing with Adobe Lightroom (I have never used Photoshop, as Lightroom does 95% of what I need). I think the most current model available in this series is the D5500... (~$1000.00)
2. Panasonic LUMIX point-and-shoot. This is a nice little camera with a decent 20X optical zoom. (~$300.00)
3. iPhone 5. This is my least favorite of the three, but I almost always have my iPhone with me so I make do with the tool at hand.

All of these cameras are well and good and produce great shots, but I am looking for exceptional shots so I think we should wait until Dee weighs in on his equipment and techniques.

You beat me to the punch on that one except for noting that his "equipment and techniques" are still classified and so advanced that none of us would be able to duplicate them. At least that's what he told me his wife says.
Dee is dealing with some kitchen remodel & contractor challenges which have kept him off-line for a bit but he should be back fairly soon to give the definitive answers to this and many other questions we didn't even know we wanted answered. And should you be wondering why kitchen remodel issues affect his LTBBQ posts, remember that he routes all transmissions from his computer through the microwave oven to ensure he achieves the proper temperature when addressing hot topics.

Hard to come back from that segue....
I use a Fujifilm X10 most of the time. It is easy to handle and carry, looks a lot like my old Leica rangefinder (ok I admit, that's one of the main reasons I like it... ;) ) But it does a good job and the optical telephoto isn't bad. When I really want to do something special, I grab my Nikon D300S. I have a variety of lenses and have been lucky enough to find some great old Nikon glass. I've never been very successful with my phone - guess I am still a curmudgeon (heck, I still use an old Nikonos when I am diving!)
