General Discussion / Italian Sausage, Peppers and Onions
« Last post by Cajunate on March 13, 2024, 08:18:20 PM »

This evening I grilled some mild and hot Italian sausages on the Keg and griddle sliced onions and peppers. Had these on warmed garlic butter brushed sesame seed buns and topped with shredded Mozzarella cheese.

The onions separately were marinated with olive oil, red wine vinegar and minced garlic.

After the picture was taken I added some Truff Hot sauce. Mmmmmm..... I need to do this more often. But, I'm going to have to get back to making my own sausage. This was mild and hot sausage but the hot was only slightly spicier than the mild.

I have had an interesting few months.  It turns out the cancer I have is of the slow growing type.  It does give me some hope although not great.  I am considering surgery, but chemotherapy for the cancer is NOT an option due to my allergy to corn.  There is no bending on the chemotherapy option.  I know this is a short update but there are just too many things to be more definitive.

On another note I have also had fiber optic internet just become available.  It is way better and technically some things now just plain work.  However the switch from cable tv based internet to fiber optic based internet means I have had to change out of an email address I have used in some form since the mid 1990's.  A cell phone number has also been deprecated as the old number is also tied to the same cable provider.  Changes have been made and after the overlap is gone I should be saving $60/month.  I have had to get a couple of streaming services but the overall cost is cheaper for better service.  This is a win and makes the pain of switching email and cell numbers tied to different accounts worth it .  Thanks to Cliff, Tim, and Mike for your help.  You all know who you are.

Thank you all. It was a great birthday and I learned stuff and enjoyed the day:

     1. I found out I'm still alive and that IR2dum speaks Hawaiian. I know this because his original post calls me "Ka Hanu" instead of "Ka Honu." In Hawaiian, Ka Honu is "the turtle" while Ka Hanu is "the breath" or "one who breathes." Appropriate for the day and good to know.

     2. I learned you aren't supposed to wear your birthday suit when you go out on your birthday. Don't ask how I found this out (but it seems counterintuitive).

     3. SWMBO made her famous brownies. Best birthday cake ever.

     4. I loafed about all day - pretty much like I do everyday but I didn't feel guilty like I do occasionally (and SWMBO didn't scold me even once for being lazy).

     5. We went out to dinner at what may be my favorite restaurant in Honolulu. Snails, pâté, lobster, duck, and crème brûlée. All excellent and enough leftovers for tomorrow.

     6. The Oilers won.

And that's all I know. Aloha all.
