Back from 32nd Annual Camping Trip/Road America Car Races- photo heavy
« Reply #-1 on: August 11, 2015, 03:30:38 PM »
This group has stayed pretty much intact thru the years, lost a few guys and added a few as well. It always brings us to Road America, arguably America's BEST racetrack. Every driver who's raced here backs that up and they are no slouches with former Formula 1, Indycar, Cart, and LeMans racers. It's a 4 mile track with 14 turns and plenty of uphill and downhill runs.
We camp, cook, and enjoy the company of friends who have been friends for 40 years. The first four days are somewhat laidback but when Friday rolls around we hop on scooters and head to the track each day thru Sunday. The races were Sat. Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge and Sun. the Tudor Sportscar Championship.

I cooked pizzas for 12 on Wed. Everyone takes a crack at cooking for the group.
On Friday we went to the track for lunch, we ate at the concession/ restaurant GearBox where a lot of teams eat. I had a brisket sandwich that was too die for!   Enough talk here's some pics!

Your car pictures bring back some memories from when my son and I used to go to Summit Point Raceway in WV, many years ago to watch the road races.  I got to see a lot of cars and personalities up close and personal in the pit areas.  We saw Paul Newman and his cars on several occasions.

Oh yes, your food looked fantastic, too.

Art we used to see Newman, Andretti, Sterling Moss, Carl Haas etc in the local restaurants and their favorite watering hole "The Sea Biscuit". You gave them their space but the next day if they had time they'd give it to you. Old school guys!
