First Time Beef Jerky
« Reply #-1 on: April 24, 2015, 04:57:19 PM »
I was asked by my wife and son why I hadn't made any jerky yet. To be honest I never thought about
it. Well since it was requested I searched this board and found out how to do it. I decided to make it
real simple the first time so I purchased, on sale, some already sliced Top Round steaks.  I cut them in
strips and marinated them in 2 batches.  The first batch was 2.5 pounds and it was marinated with Island
Teriyaki and of course 1/2 tsp of Cure #1.  The second batch was also 3.5 pounds and it was marinated in
Veri Veri Teriyaki and 1/2+1/4 tsp of Cure #1.

First batch in the Grid Iron at 160 degrees burning cherry pellets.

First batch is done after 4 hours.

2nd batch into the Grid Iron.

2nd batch is done after 4 hours.

I have to admit these both batches were good. I will definitely be experimenting with other recipes the
next time I make jerky.  Both could have used some heat!  8)  Both batches were son and wife approved!  :)

I will save some for you Art! Providing I can hide some from the wife and son.  ;D
If not I will do another batch before then and make sure I bring some with me.
