Title: Turkey - Breast up or breast down?
Post by: Guerillah on November 24, 2015, 09:52:08 PM
Hello all,

As many of you, I'll be using my SRG to make a turkey for my family this thanksgiving. I equate the SRG to a bigger version of the 'TBE, with added functionality of course. The TBE states that when cooking a turkey, to cook with the breast up, legs down. I've seen many people on here say to cook it with the legs up breast down. The legs up method to me seems to make a little more sense since the legs and thighs generally need to be cooked to a higher temperature (heat rises), however their mass is much smaller than the breast so maybe legs down is preferred for that reason? Obviously, people have had success with both methods, but temperature and 'doneness' wise, which way makes more sense? I cooked the turkey last year in oil and everyone loved it, trying now to screw up with the new toy!

Thanks all

Breast side up or down will work, believe me I have tried turkeys and yardbirds both ways
