But it is supposed to be the other way around.... :D Before I went hunting in New Mexico about 3 weeks ago....The Mrs. T told me: " Look...we have been without a dog for about 6 months. I need one to snuggle up on the couch with me when you are not here - SO when you get back...we are gonna look into getting a puppy. " FULL DISCLOSURE: I am the one that did not want another dog. It just hurts too much to watch them get old too fast, and leave too soon...I love dogs. More than most people who are "dog people".
So....as I walked into the little grocery store in Clayton New Mexico - a poster on the wall of the Managers Office was staring at me. It was the 2 you see below. God help me.....I had a weak moment. SO...I copied the number, called the lady interested in ONE pup...Went to see them, picked one and went to leave. She stopped me...in tears... and said - look - I recently lost my husband. I am working long hours every day. The other pup will have no one here....and they are so bonded that I fear she will grieve and not eat. I do not want any more money - just promise me that they can stay together. ME: <GULP>....uh....o.k....but you DO realize I am risking my life - right? ;D. We laughed - and loaded them up. Let me say - it was the best decision. They never whimpered or whined on the ride all the way back home ( about 1500 miles. ) and they are learning fast - and most importantly ..the wife have forgiven the subterfuge of me bringing home 2! ;) ;D
But, I think they are only masquerading as Boxers.....I really think they are 1/2 circus clown and 1/2 monkey..... :D :D :D

Wow thats great Tee. Yes it's hard to loose a dog but you did the right thing by getting these two
Although Kimmie would NEVER be that kind to me bringing one home muchless two ;)

What a couple of great looking pups! What are their names?
And how was your trip to New Mexico??
-
That's awesome. Years ago I got brother and sister Jack Russell terriers for the same reason. What are their names?
-
The story about how I cam home with 2 is incomplete...See - I sent a picture of 1 to Mrs. T...and she was happy that we were getting " A " puppy.....And - I could not tell her 2...she would have balked for sure. So - I thought about it all of the way home.
So - if you remember the movie - "Gremlins"...... ;)
I get home - it is late at night...I open the pet carrier and TWO head pop out. Her jaw dropped - and I got the " I will kill you" look.....so I did what I do best: I shrieked as if in shock - did my best "Home Alone" imitation...and exclaimed: "Oh my gosh...I gave her a bath last nite and it was too late!!!"
It took a little while - but all was forgiven once she saw them playing and snuggling with her. :)
This one is Abilene ( Abbie)

And Ruby Jean....

Trip went well. Bagged my Elk. Hunted on Vermejo Park Ranch. Will be returning this fall. If you are available ...hunt with us - or at least maybe we can grab some grub in Raton.
Here is a picture link for the trip: https://teesquare.smugmug.com/2019-ELK-HUNT-VERMEJO-PARK-RANCH/

Thanks Mike. They are fun...but imagine having 2 toddlers running around your house...and they refuse to wear diapers.... :o ??? ::) ;D :D :D :D

Jack Russell's are definitely one of the breeds I love to watch. But....I don't think I have the mental capacity to outsmart them...or the energy to keep up with them. ;) :D

Great story, Tee. It is tough to see them go, they really know how to dig into your heart.
If you're worried about diapers, just wait 'till the boyfriends start showing up in the front yard ! ! !

They will be getting their gears stripped at the appropriate age ;). Gonna turn them into "nuns" ...so I hope to avoid that drama and trauma 8)

Sounds good. Maybe you can just come hang out at the house for a day since we have hit al the joints I probably care to see. Christine and the boys would like to see you I'm sure. Plus, Pikey and Tinker would love to smell the new pups on you .
Not sure what I will be up to by then though. I got severed as part of a department reduction in force and am living on severance and savings. Nice how the two senior members of a team (and surely the highest paid) get severed from a department that I for one never applied to go to but was force transferred to when he requested me, LOL. The department manager has been wasting people's time for years with his idiotic projects that literally nobody wants or needs, but he is friends with our director who instead of just getting rid of his department let him cut back his headcount and leave him and all the others who will be good low paid "yes men/women" until they have no choice but to leave. At least I got a decent severance after 22 years with a company who is still liquid.
Just got my 1st unemployment payment request approved this morning. Almost 30 years as an adult in the workforce (the last 22 with the same company), and until now I had never not had a job for even a single day.
Give me a ring, or shoot me a PM and I'll call you when we are both available to talk.

I love those doggies Tee! I am a HUGE animal lover, especially dogs. Dogs are some of the best people I know ;)
-
Great story T, but it made me sad.
Like you I went to get one and ended up getting twin sisters.
About a year and a half ago one of them passed and I am still grieving.
