Title: Possible Patent infringing
Post by: Sailor1 on June 22, 2013, 01:08:49 PM
Saw this post in another forum and it looks like some one from across the Boarder my be infringing on Todd's invention.  I am not an attorney and don't know how his patent was filled.  I know some of you are very good friends with Todd and might be able to get hold him to inform him so he can look into it.  I hate companies that knock off other peoples ideas.

Here is the link where I saw it.  http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=32619.0

Well it does not use the "mesh" design like Todd's so it probably does not infringe and if I is made by an international company like say in China for instance good luck getting it off the market unless you got a high priced attorney and plenty of time ::)

Good looking out for him though.

Yeah, it's different enough that there most likely no infringement. Plus, if that product is being made in China forget it. China doesn't honor international copyright or patent laws anyway.

"Remember who your friends are".......

Todd is our friend and a fellow outdoor cook. I will not ever consider buying a product from a company like the one that did a cheap knock-off of his tube.....

I would not buy that knock off, Doesn't look like it has enough holes for combustion.

Todd is a great guy and I would never buy anything that would cheat him out of $$$$

China, and several other countries, have "interesting" patent laws that make it difficult, if not impossible to protect your products from being knocked off. The good news is that for the most part, the knock offs are c#$p and most purchasers either ignore them or never buy again. The bad news is, it is almost impossible to fight the patent issue. That's a good reason for getting close to your customers and prospects and helping them understand the value of "the real thing." And that's what Todd has done and is doing.

I have three A-MAZE-N products and would never buy something as cheap looking as the knock off.  I agree that does not look like it can get enough air flow

Any time you buy something "cheap" you get something cheap.  Landfills are full of junk like this.

With all possible politeness to a first time poster:

Let's not turn this into a Wal-Mart bashing session. They don't make the product, there are other smoker tubes on the market, there are probably other members here, besides my family, who benefit from employment through Wal-Mart, and most importantly...

that's not why we're here!

As tv judge Marilyn Milian says, "the cheap comes out expensive"

Cliff is right, we are not here to start b*tching about Wal-Mart or any other store.  They just happen to be the ones that had the product.  I'm sure no one here blames Wal-Mart for making money heck we all need to make a living .  Lets Talk BBQ was brought on line because of folks with attitudes and running folks off other sites.   So lets not go there but get back to talking cooking of all types!

OK, I'll get off my crutches now sit down and be a good little boy now

I've only had a couple minutes on this but what is walmart.ca?  Site does not look right. I would be real careful opening anything from that site. Anything I can find on Walmart is .com so far.  Not .ca

 Just curious...

That is the Canadian designation. Wal-mart for Canada.

peopleofwalmart.com is the most entertaining website on the net and far better than any reality TV show.  Don't do anything that might endanger its continued contribution to quality portraiture.
