Right on Smoke, of all the patriotic holidays, the 4th is the grandaddy of the all and celebrates the birth of this great country and all the sacrifices that have kept it free. I haven't decided what will be on the grill or smoker yet, maybe some slabs of ribs in the smoker or pork chops on the grill. The flag will be flying and we will relax and celebrate the day.

These are ....tough times in America. The economy has put a hurtin' on every sector of the economy that you can think of...I hope that, amidst the fun and merry making this 4th - we each pause to consider the choices that we make, and the choices that are being made for us by this country's elected officials. Scary times - and un-predictable too.

So, an attitude of gratitude for the people that have made a difference for all of us - and a hope that the price paid will be honored, appreciated - and never forgotten.

Salute!

I teach my son who is seven, love of this great country every chance I get. We are the great American experiment. Nothing has Ben done like this before. And despite our problems, we are still the greatest nation on earth. Protect it and defend it. We are different, and that is a good thing.

If y'all want a real patriotic tear jerker listen to Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Dee
