Portable Kitchen Aluminum Charcoal Grill.......for Pop's
« Reply #-1 on: November 28, 2014, 10:26:16 PM »
My Dad wanted me to get him one of these last summer, but I had their patio full of my pits and didn't do it. The night he passed away I thought about not getting it for him and I told Wendy I am going to get him one now....kinda like a tribute to Pops..........

It comes with a hinged lid for easy refilling of charcoal

This is the littlemore cooking grid, you can still use the hinged lid

Here is the cookmore cooking grid, good for ribs or a whole bunch of wangs

Double vents on the lid and the bottom

Built a small fire for break-in (the PK doesn't really need breaking in) nice to see that 1/4 inch aluminum heat up for the first time

Ran to Goodwins and grabbed a 18 day dry aged rib eye

sorry no finished pics, got real dark and my cell battery went flat...will make it up to all of you with tomorrows cook................

Why don't you give us a complete review on this, as the ratings on Amazon are off the hook! I'm sure Pop's is watching.

I agree with the others; a great tribute to your Pops!

I thought of giving it a review, but it is such a simple pit.Just two vents underneath and on top and a hinged lid and that is that. It has even less bells and whistles than a Weber kettle, but I will give you lots of posts in this thread as I get adventurous with it  ;) It hasn't been around since 1952 for nothing.

It started being made in Tyler Texas. It disappeared in the 1970's. A fella in Little Rock,Arkansas picked one up that was made in the 50's at a yard sale and he set out to bring it back.

Char-Broil actually owned the rights to the Portable Kitchen (thank Goodness they didn't Mfg it and cheapen it up and have it made in China), he was able to get the rights and they now actually use the original molds to make these throwbacks to yesterday...today  :)

That is a true Classic Smoke. I am sure you will have good memories of your Pop every time you cook on it.

Jack, if you lived closer I would take that CharBroil off your hands.

Cool looking grill Smoke! And I agree about every time you cook using that grill memories will abound! It'll be like sharing a cold one with your pop while the meat cooks! Nice touch buddy!  8)
