Cookin' Pellets vs. Lumberjack Pellets?
« Reply #-1 on: May 05, 2015, 11:15:43 AM »
Going to be needing more pellets (we use our MAK 4-5 times a week) as the 12 big bags I bought last Fall are getting low.

I have not had ANY issues with the Cookin' Perfect mix, but I like how Lumberjack offers variety. I would only get straight and mixed wood ones, no "flavored.

What say you?

Well.... 8)

Cookin' Pellets is a paying supporter of Lets Talk BBQ - and events that our members participate in. Lumberjack is not. ;)

While we are all free to use whatever we like, we tend to really like those that like us :)......

Lumberjack is the only brand I can find in my area. Never had an issue on my Mak. If I had storage I could drive 3 hours to there HQ in Wisconsin and buy them really cheap

Both pellets are good...but I have three reasons to go with cookin pellets:

1  Forum sponsor

2 Perfect Mix      you can't just beat this pellet mix (hickory, cherry, maple and apple) great for all proteins

3 I pellet tested both. You will get less waste with perfect mix, burns much cleaner which will also lead to better pellet consumption

;D Totally forgot they are a sponsor. That alone is a big deal to me.

That' the kind of info I was looking for. I have no access to Lumberjack other than buying a boatload at a time. Hearing that Cookin' pellets burn cleaner is another huge factor.

Like I said, I have had ZERO issues with Cookin' Pellets, and have used over 1/4 ton of the combo ones already. Only problem is that they are only available to me via online sources.

Don't get me wrong Robert, we all use different pellets, and - we encourage "experimenting", and sharing findings. It is how we grow the knowledge base.

Where do you live?

GMG Gold blend is comparable to Cookin Pellets when it comes to usage and ash.  Those were my two favorites......
