SRG #1 RIP
« Reply #-1 on: June 03, 2016, 10:16:59 PM »
Time to say goodby to my first SRG. Last month when I was cleaning the grill and chamber out I noticed that they were both about burned out but still had a little life left in them. I started saving up some extra money to order a replacement chamber and grill. Then I got lucky on my last work trip to Austin when I was checking out Craigslist one evening at the motel and found a new in box SRG for $150. I talked the guy down to $120 and brought it home as a backup.

It was so cheap I decided to just use my original until the bottom fell out of the chamber, tonight the bottom ended up with enough holes that it caught fire when I opened it up to pull tonight's pork chops off. So I turned it off, disconnected the gas bottle and got the wife to help me move it even further away from the house than it was and let it burn out with the lid down.

Tomorrow I'll strip the good parts off and haul it to the dump and break out one of my spares to replace it.

That's for sure, I have used it probably a minimum of 5 times a week since I got it a few years back so I can't complain about quality or reliability for sure.

It's like losing an old friend.  But a time to meet a new friend as well!  ;)
