Good afternoon!  I didn’t grow up eating much barbecue, but after my wife bought me a Weber Smokey Mountain for our anniversary about 10 years ago, I got hooked.  But as our family has grown, I don’t have the time to sit around and fiddle with it all day.  So, I have started my research to figure out which pellet smoker would be best for us.  Right now, I am trying to decide if the extra money for a Mak is worth it, and I think they came out with new models today.

I look forward to jumping in on a few threads and learning from everyone else’s experience.  Thanks!

Mark

Welcome from North Carolina.  I have a MAK 2 Star that I bought several years ago.  Quality product.  I am tossing around the idea of sending it back to the factory for some upgrades.

Where do you live in Virginia?  I retired from the Fairfax County school system in Northern Virginia over ten years ago and moved to NC.

Thanks!  I am in Arlington, right near the DC/MD line.  Actually heading down to your fine state in a few weeks to check out Asheville.  I have never been and have heard great things...if you have any recommendations for that area, I am all ears.

Mark,
I lived in Herndon for a number of years.  I am now an hour from Asheville.  I meet my hunting/fishing/cooking buddy (Teesquare, aka Tee) in Asheville periodically.  He lives closer to Brevard and has a business in Hendersonville.  Great restaurants in and around Asheville.  I'll reach out to Tee to give you some suggestions.
