My dog Marco has been in really bad health. He was 19 years old and that is to be expected. I have had him for 18 years. I took him to the vet today and decided the best option at this time was to put him to sleep.
This was very difficult. But to keep him alive at this point would be very selfish of me. I spent time with him before they gave him a sedative and stopped his heart. I had 18 great years with him and he will be missed...

Sorry to hear about this Mike - I understand the miserable feeling and the knowing that you did the right thing for him. My sympathies.
-
So sorry, Mike...that IS a tough one.
I STILL remember the dog I had 60 years ago - his name was Midnight. We shared a lot of adventures together in the woods near the house.
Memories of times spent with Marco will always bring you joy.

So sorry to hear this Mike. Hard to do what you did it was the best thing for you and your friend. I had a hard time putting my 11+year chuaha down but it was the best for both of us.

My thoughts go out to you and your family Mike.

I am sorry, Mike. I understand how hard that is. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Mike,
Our sympathies go with you. I never had a dog. We were more a cat family. My son and his wife did, however, have several black labs. I became really attached to them. There for a while I thought we would only have "grand doggers". It was funny at the time when the two labs (at that time about 100 pounds each climbed into my lap). They must not have forgotten that I had the two of them in my lap when they were little guys. The memories we have of them are the most important part of the equation. Sorry for your loss.

Mike, I know that as best that it is for him, it is still hard to get over. Sympathies are with you.
-
Sorry partner.
-
Really sorry for the lost of your family member.
-
Mike, we both feel sadness for you and your family losing Marco. These creatures become family and tug at our hearts.
We hope in time that the pain and lonliness go away and that the dark clouds give way to the Sun. You were the best friend to Marco and you honored that friendship to the end! Hang in there buddy!

Mike, so sorry. I know that you will have many fond memories of Marco forever.
-
Mike, so sorry for your loss. I know the feeling as I had to put my chihuahua down that I had for almost 20 years. It is very
painful and time does heal the pain, but not the memories.
-
So sorry Mike. I have had to do this too many times, but they all hold a special place in my heart and my memory.
-
Mike, I know I've posted this previously, but it seems appropriate again...

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. They are very appreciated.
The vet I took him to squeezed me in without an appointment and were very helpful. They took time with me as I said goodbye to my old friend.
Again I thank this forum and members for being so supportive.

I know it's hard to give them up even when it's best. Don

So sad to hear about this. It's a tough decision to be sure.
I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers, brother!

So sorry Mike

Sorry for your lost but you did the right thing, no matter how hard it was.

Sorry for the loss Mike, it's a tough decision that all dog owners have to make eventually.
