Sundays dinner was a two Crockpot meal. It seems winter has passed quickley and I never got all the comfort meals I would have liked. I knew rain was coming so it would be an indoor cook.
I had a nice beef arm roast from my butcher and some good Butler's Bakery noodles; I cheated on the maehed potatoes and used Bob Evens store bought. I had 16 oz. of baby bella mushrooms I would do in a Crockpot with a half cup of ½ & ½, two pats of butter, salt and pepper for 4 hours on low. I stirred them at 2 hours.
Usually I brown a roast before braising in the Crockpot; I thought lets try not browning, I sprayed the pot with some olive oil, added a chopped onion and then the roast with salt and pepper. I poured a lager beer over it. I got it in at 10 AM on high for 3 hours then down to low.
At 4 PM I took the meat out to cool some. It fell apart and when cool enough pulled apart easily. There was very little fat. I poured the broth in a gravy seperator, added the meat to the pot and about a cup of the broth and added two cups of beef broth.
I boiled the pound of noodles in some salt water for 20 minutes then draind and into the pot. It was a little after 5:00 when I got them in. I checked at 5:30 and the noodles had sucked up a lot of the broth so I added some more beef broth.
At 6:00 I heated the mashed potatoes in the microwave and served supper. I had baked a take-home-and-bake baguette for bread and butter. It sure tasted good and I would have never known the roast was not browned first.
