Snow predicted across the South tonight - DEF COM 3
For all you Yankees who are used to the snow, folks down here in Dixie just don't know how to handle it.
This video will give you a little insight

just go play in the snow..you'll love it .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Momma needs a shave and a valiuum! :D

THAT is a funny characterization of reality... :D :D :D
I am forever amazed/disappointed at how we allow the news to amp up our fears over naturally occurring weather cycles. They can't just tell you what is happening - they have to excite you, and create a "weather event" (their phrase.. ::))
I had to tell my wife this morning. It is WINTER...We live in the MOUNTAINS. WHY is the expectation of 3-7 inches of snow SUCH a big deal?
It is analogous to someone living in the desert getting all twitterpated ( my word..not theirs ;D ) because the temperature will get in the 90's during Summer!!!! :D :D :D

We do the liquor thing up here in CT too..........For us it is just another excuse to stock the cabinets ??? ??? ??? ???
In fact in New England for a tornado warning in Kansas we stock up.......hey you never know when it may turn :D :D :D :D :D

That was awesome

I've heard your suppose to put out a nice clean tray and catch the snow. Then make it into balls, put a ball on an ice cream cone and pour some maple syrup over it....
But we won't likely have snow this far south . More like golf ball size ice rocks falling from the sky like turkeys on Thanksgiving!
The other day I saw where a guy made an attachment for his blower that essentially made it a snowball machine gun...now that... was cool.

Up to a half inch predicted and all North Alabama schools closed, roads being de iced and we are under a state wide emergency ;)
And there is no snow at the Bomma Rosa :) :)

As Tommy stated, plus the Feds closed the Marshall Space center, Redstone Arsenal, ------in typical Southern fashion those are closed but Walmart and the liquor stores are open.

How many of us remember walking to school in 4 feet of snow, blowing winds, freezing cold and uphill both ways.

Until old timers disease hits me I'll never forget those days. On some days we had to follow the city plow who was throwing coal ashes down for traction. But you know...i can't remember the schools ever closing for snow or cold weather. We walked everywhere.

Who remembers hookie bumping?

i went to school in south Huntsville and there was a hill you had to go up and over to get there so I did walk up a hill both ways :D ??? And I did walk in snow, but only an inch or so :)

Who remembers hookie bumping?
I always denied doing it to my parents, but Pappy I'll tell you. We did it whenever we could. It was best on brick streets.

Who remembers hookie bumping?
Cant you get arrested for that?
-
Tim, it's only illegal if you get caught. Ask any politician! ::)

Time for some southern ingenuity..... golf ball size ice rocks in a glass with some whiskey!!!!

It would be safer for you to travel North in the winter..... ;) ;D

You could always come to Atlanta for the 2 hour Friday afternoon rush hour. Consider it a training session for going north..... If you leave more than 3 feet between you and the car in front of you, there are 3 other cars trying to fill that space and cut you off. That's if you are moving at all.

I have a friend who I quote occasionally for his "agrarian colloquialisms". ( o.k....redneck sayings... :D) He said to me - "I would rather drive thru Hell, than Atlanta.
My response was: "Kinda the same thing isn't it?" ;) :D

Is it not hysterical how we "condition" ourselves to accept limitations for what we think of as our "comfort zone". Far more than just temperature/weather issues. It speaks volumes about us as a species and how predictable we really are.... :D :D :D

I still remember waiting in 124 degree ramp temperature at Ben Hoi Airbase Vietnam and 21 hours later landed in Mitchell Field Milwaukee with a real temperature of 27 degrees below zero. Talk about a shocker but heck I was home.

When I was with BellSouth i would have to drive from Birmingham to Atlanta about once or twice a week. Sometimes the meetings were in the big building downtown, sometimes on the east side which I had to deal with the 285 nightmare. Of course they always scheduled them to start in the morning so i
I was in the thick of traffic coming in. You would always have to plan at least an extra of driving time. If you got lucky you had time to get a cup of coffee and a doughnut and relax before your meeting.

I just walked outside and I have to say , today I am not complaining!

I am sitting on my porch in Dothan, Al in a short sleeved shirt, shorts, and a cold beer. Life is hard.
