For you folks that aren't on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/adrenalinebarbecuecompany/) (and we have to ask why not???) here are some photos from a test cook we did with the Jumbo Joe yesterday utilizing a new product we're working on called the Slow 'N Sear Basket. It's designed to fit 18" kettles and the Jumbo Joe (could also be used in bigger kettles). Because the 18" cookers made by Weber are so small we did not integrate the water reservoir into the basket. That would have taken up to much cooking space. Instead we have two plates that act as a radiant heat barrier between the heat and the meat. Here are photos of the cook:
The Slow 'N Sear basket is on the left. Indirect zone is on the right, and we're using a Smoke thermometer (http://www.thermoworks.com/Adrenaline-BBQ?tw=Adrenaline) to record the results.

The Weber drippings pan we're using as a water pan really shows off just how small this cooker is. We're using Stubb's charcoal and pecan chips for wood smoke. The meat is an Angus chuck roast weighing in at 3.68 pounds. We salted it the night prior then applied our version of Big Bad Beef Rub.

We refueled at the 3 hour mark (we were cooking hot (300 F) so charcoal was 2/3 gone at this time) and took a pic of the chuck roast. Internal temp was around 150 F.

Here the meat is at 175 F and we're wrapping with a little water added for moisture:

Once the meat hit 205 F we threw it in the Faux Cambro for two hours. Here it is out and ready to slice.

Money Shot! I'm not sure I could have done any better than this, on any of my cookers.

We're curious what you folks think about this new product. Do you have an 18" kettle or a Jumbo Joe? Would you find the Slow 'N Sear Basket useful?

Fantastic chuckie David and you know I am on the list for the new SnS for my Jumbo Joe. Do you have a standalone photo of the SnS so we can see it without the grates, etc.

Top view looking down into the radiant barrier. You can see tabs keep the two walls separated.

Here is another angle that shows the inner plate doesn't touch the walls of the basket. That's because it expands when it gets hot and we don't want it warping the shape.

In this view we're showing off the punch pattern used to make the bottom plate.

View of the bottom. You can see we've used tabs to keep the thing together. No welding! Cuts down costs significantly.

Looks good David! Is it made from the same materials as the original SnS?

Nah this is aluminized metal. We figure 304 SS isn't necessary given no welds and no water is involved.

Due to popular request we'll be selling a 304 SS version as well. The people have spoken.

Can you put a water pan above the Sns.
-
This wool fit my jumbo joe?. I want one.
-
Yes it fits the JJ great. In fact that's what I did the cook in. Just put a water pan over the basket and you'll get plenty of steam.

If I buy anything now my wife will give me plenty of steam ??? ??? ???
