welp, its saturday morning about 8 am. its 35° outside on the back patio. the suns out but still cold. been outside since 6:30. my wife comes out and starts laughing at me.
mrs spark: whats ya doing dear?
me: nothing, just polishing my grills.
mrs spark: (more laughing) why?
me: because they cook better when they are shining.
mrs spark: ya know. theres a F150 out front that could use a bath also.
me: but dear, its going to rain tomorrow and i wouldn't want to deprive the weather of doing a fine job of getting the dirt off of bob (my trucks name it bob. its not wierd).
so, i continued.
i was using simple green and some purple stuff. works good.

heres a good tip for your new pellet ppl. use a old jar inside your grease bucket. save the lid.
put alum foil around it to hold it in place.

when the jar is full replace lid and throw away. slick huh.

clean grills are happy grills.

I never stop learning from you. That jar in the bucket will be implemented as soon as the weather warms up to turn my bucket into a liquid from a solid.
Grills look great!
-
sparky, My wife doesn't laugh at me; however, she does point and giggle quiet often as does some of my friends. I guess I could get rid of the wife and friends but I've got a feeling that would be expensive.
I have never seen used cooking stuff that clean. Amazing. Dee

Sparky,
If you ever come to visit me, I have several grills you can clean for me. Yours look too new. Get them dirty!!

Sparky - you are a sick and twisted man...And that's why we love ya! :D :D :D :D
You should start a grill cleaning and maintenance service. Really.. You can do it!

If it was anyone but you, Sparky, I'd be forced to quote from The Dirty Dozen... "Very pretty, General. Very pretty. But, can they fight? " In your case, however, we know they can.
-
You're making me feel really guilty, Spark. I've got a cookshack full of toys that have accumulated a winter's worth of crud plus the whole area looks like a staging ground for the city dump. I've been waiting for warmer weather ;)

those grills look pretty. Nice work.
Wife always thinks I am crazy. Do a lot of fishing and not so much catching. Wife: You go out in the rain and cold to fish and not catch anything. and when you do you give it away. ???
I cleaned mine a bit but it could use a bit more TLC.
-
I am constantly cleaning my pits and sweeping down the patio. keep em greasy on the inside and purdy on the outside.
Great Idea on the jar in the grease bucket....
-
Sparky - the ladies look great - ready to step out for a night on the town... or deck...

Already doing the jar in the grease bucket, but I may have to get some of that purple power stuff and try it. How well does it work on the smoke buildup around the vents?
-
My wife does laugh at me but not for polishing my smokers. I keep them fairly clean, but not THAT clean... ::)
-
Ain't no way I'd do that, Kimmie would make me go inside and polish the rest of the house.
As for the naming your truck, ??? I'll leave it alone because I named grills before ;)
Loved "Petunia" the proto type ele-Big Easy I got to play with before anyone knew about them. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
My stuff never looks that clean... and my wife says if I want to polish it, do it in the shower <lol>.
That's presentation quality equipment!
-
Got those grills shining Sparky, wanna come over and clean mine?
-
Wife laughs at me yes, but not for cleaning the grill. She decided we were going to her parents for a 2:00 PM dinner. So I had to wake at 4:00 to get the lox (another tread) going. I tried to go back to sleep, but had the alarm set at 5:50 to start the tube smoker. We had to leave at noon. So basically she got 3.5 more hours sleep than I did, due to my hobby. I get it, I don't think she does yet.

People just don't understand how hard we work at our Queing craft ;D

For the grease bucket, I use a 1 gallon paint can from lowes depot. It comes with a lid.
when it gets full, lid it and toss it. far.
-
My Mak needs a serious cleaning as well.. way to cold here right now.

Ditto! I also use the one gallon paint can. Works like a charm and no, Jan doesn't laugh at me. She likes what comes out of my smokers way too much to risk hurting my feelings. :D
-
My MAK needs a serious bath as well. Getting ready to move it to the warehouse as our primary "bacon cooker"..
-
Lordy, Lordy Sparky!!! :o ... If my pits looked like that I'd never cook another meal :D 8)
-
Y'all notice they don't laugh when they are eating what we cook ;D
-
I keep my Traeger pretty clean but no where near as good a Sparky! My wife knows better than to laugh at me or she won't eat! ;D But she laughs enough about other things about me! Don

My wife laughs at me for taking pictures of my cooks. But I caught her taking pictures of my present cook in progress. She also has mentioned about getting me a camera since my phone takes such lousy pictures. Yeah, she laughs on the outside, but on the inside she's into it....just won't admit it.

I've hosted seveal parties, 20 to 40 people at our home. I know I'm not alone in this, but it gets a lot of groans. "Wait, no one can eat yet, I have to take a picture for the internet forum."

I definitely am stealing the bottle in the bucket idea!!! So simple, makes me wanna slap myself up side the head and say "Why couldn't I have thought of that!"
Thanks for sharing!
