A work friend who had a 100+ year old walnut blow down recently brought me a box of mini logs.
Any one smoked with this?

Nope. Try it in small amounts until see how powerful the smoke flavor is.
Should be good! I mean Pecan is a Nut Wood Tree too and it very good.

Black walnut is a pretty intense smoke - can impart a bitter taste if used alone. Recommend mixing it with something lighter (e.g., apple) and using it on meats than can take the strength (beef, pork, venison, other game).

I've used Black Walnut pellets (30% BW mixed with 70% Oak). It is pretty strong, but works great with the larger cuts of meat KH has listed.
