Title: Package from the Rib Meister
Post by: ACW3 on April 11, 2013, 02:26:52 PM
Several days ago I received a box from Sparky.  We trade a few cooking items every now-and-then.  One of the items he sent me was a pair of Bear Claws.  They arrived at the perfect time because I was just getting ready to start pulling a bunch of pork.  I still got my hands greasy, but the job went much faster using the Bear Claws.  I can’t wait to try all the flavors of Miner’s Mix.  Sparky has used Miner’s Mix with great success on some of his rib work.  I will also get to try the Instant Gourmet rub.  I have seen this used on a lot of posts by a number of different cooks.  Thank you, Sparky!!

My 10 year old son (who is my official assistant to the point where he will wake up in the middle of an overnight cook and hold the flashlight for me) was watching a BBQ show with me the other day.  They were using claws to pull the pork, and he says... "That's cheating.  You need to use your hands!"  :P  Don't even get him started on Carolina chopped pork!

How is that Bone Sucking rub? We are selling that at Academy now and I thought about trying it.

Way to go....training that young man right.  If you need the bear claws for one butt, you didn't cook it right.  However, for multiple butts, I'll give it a pass.
