Made Joe's Caramel pie (with a twist) Friday to go with some leftover pulled pork sandwiches to feed the family today. Did the pie a little different. I put a layer of crushed Heath on top of the caramel before putting on the Cool Whip and then put some more Heath on before the nuts. The nuts were a mixture of cashews, almonds, peanuts and pistachios. The pulled pork was served on wheat bread with Slawsa and a (very) little bit of a thin vinegar/brown sugar based BBQ sauce on the bread. Sorry for the crappy pics. I didn't have the camera out and just grabbed the cell.

Nothing wrong with that spread whatsoever. I wish I'd had time to smoke up something this weekend ...
If you're a fan of that caramel pie, there's a twist on it called Banoffee Pie that has a layer of sliced bananas over the caramel layer. Since I'm a banana fan, I super thinly slice bananas for a layer beneath the caramel, then top with a layer of slightly thicker banana slices that have been quickly bruleed with some light brown sugar and a blow torch, then cooled before you add the whipped cream. If you sear those bananas it kind of tastes like Bananas Foster ... I'm wanting to get some rum extract to make rum-flavored whipped cream to really complete the circle.

Looks Awesome Billy, I have secret recipe in the works for my jars of Slawsa ;)

I haven't thought to put Slawsa with pulled pork...did it turn out?
I have plenty of both...just never tho't to mix and mingle.

I love it on pulled pork sandwiches and even just on the side to grab a bite with the meat when eating it without bread. It is a GREAT combo. It kind of satisfies the S.C. mustard flavor that I crave while having some crunch as well.
