Title: Martini and a SRG dinner...
Post by: pz on September 26, 2013, 01:10:03 AM
... doesn't get better than this for me - martini made with blue cheese stuffed olives and cocktail onions.  Then a chopped chicken sandwich with homemade bread and smoked Gouda - oven dried tomatoes as a side

pz -you nailed it! Simple, elegant, and looks delicious. Perfect. For some reason makes me think of a perfect New Years Eve in the mountains, looking at the softly falling snow. Fire crackling in the hearth. George Winston on the stereo.

My goodness, David - you mentioned one of my favorite artists, and "December" is in my opinion one of his best.  I typically play that album in my office as soon as the Christmas season starts  :)

pz - I look forward to the Christmas season to put December on as well. However, probably my favorite cut is from Autumn - Colors/Dance.

I'll need to get that one - I cannot imagine that George Winston would put out anything other than stellar.  Thanks for posting!

I'm sure this is not really George Winston playing and the recording is not good - but it will give you an idea of this piece. It is one of my favorites. I see the leaves blowing and the skies getting darker... racing to the inevitability of winter... http://www.last.fm/music/George+Winston/_/Colors%2FDance

Indeed; reminds me of "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" which is still to this day one of my favorite animations - saw it as a youngster, and have never tired of watching it to this day, especially the part where Snoopy is playing the part of a WWI flying ace.

Great reference! One of my favorites as well. I get my kids together to watch every year - they put up with me...  ::) ::)

Shame that we do not live closer together, David - would love to have you over as a regular guest for dinner.  I'm sure the conversation and food would be world class  ;)

It would be a blast, pz. But maybe I will pass your way one day or you might be this way. I am confident we will meet. For now, it is great to know you in the forum and have a chance to talk.

Thanks for the kind comments!  I actually use pimento-stuffed olives stored in vermouth - dig out the pimentos, throw them into the glass and stuff the olives by hand.  We've tried the ones stuffed by the factory, but the texture of the cheese is not good, and the liquid they are stored in is cloudy.

I'm sure we'll cross paths one of these days, David
