As I get ready to grill some burgers a childhood memory came to me. Before everyone had some type of grill I can remember Dad or Mom making Worcestershire Burgers in the frying pan. A dab of butter and some Worcestershire sauce made for a killer burger.

Yes - THAT is good Ron!....Even good as an ingredient in a meatloaf too.

I remember the frozen meat patties with a cube of butter stuck to them. I think they were labeled Minute Steaks.........

Try this: Make two regular hamburger patties. Dice up some yellow onions. Place a handfull between the two patties. Splash with a generous glompule of Lea & Perrins. Add just a wee dash of salt and pepper. Join the two patties together, sealing the edges so the onions don't fall out. Fry 'em up in a cast iron skillet or grill 'em.
This simple entree was a staple at Herman's Cafe (Herman called it Hamburger Steak) when I was a kid. I still make these fairly often.

Isn't it amazing how the simplest of foods can bring back such great memories?
Great post Ron. And those thick burgers aren't too shabby either! 8)

Found thick Worcester sauce today from lea and perrins. I love WS on burgers, interested to see what the new thick sauce is like.

That looks like a great burger.

I just did a piece for the Burn! blog about burgers. Y'all might want to take a look at it... it has a couple of recipes and a burger glaze that's pretty tasty!
