I try to make a loaf once a week. It is so good just out of the oven. This is using my sweat bread starter in place of rapid rise yeast

Looks delicious Devo! All your missing on that buttered slice is some strawberry/rhubarb jam! ;)

Well maybe the strawberry but I will hold off on the rhubarb part. I can take it or leave it.
I use some whole wheat flour for dusting and just noticed it stuck to the outside pretty good. Kind of gives it that rustic look :)

That looks so delicious, very nice. ;)

I can smell it from here.

My son said "dad its really crusty on the outside and soft in the middle" think I did good ::) lol

Me too, I have tried but never seem to get the right size. All my bun pans come out to small and when I just wing it, they come out all different sizes. Still looking for a good bun pan.

Im thinking I'll weigh the dough balls, mash them to same diameter and see what happens.Bun pan, must go to Amazon, thanks for the idea.

That bread looks great, Don.
I'd be interested in hearing more about your sweet bread starter.
P.S. You can pass the rhubarb my way. I love the stuff. ;)

That's a good looking loaf devo. Here's the bun pan I was given and it works out real good, this is the first batch I did and I didn't get my dough divided evenly but it shows the pan better than any of the pictures with better buns. I use the crusty bread recipe and brush the tops with melted butter.

It was passed on to me from a very nice guy from Texas. He said its been in his family for generations. I had met him from when I belonged to the Bradley forum and he perfected on how to dehydrate it so it could be shipped across countries. Since I live in Canada it was the easiest way to ship. Trying to ship the liquid form could cause an explosion. You might laugh at that but I gave some to a lady friend of mine and she put it in the back of the car on a hot summer day till she got of work, well guess what it broke a mason jar into little pieces.
This is what it looked like after he dehydrated some for shipping

And after Rehydrating and feeding it and 12 hours later, it should look like this

How deep are the wells, and the bun diameter?
Roughly 4 1/2" diameter and about 1" deep with sloping sides, I have no idea where they came from originally as they were given to me by someone who had them for years.
-
Devo, where did you get that clay thingy?
-
I got mine from Amazon, the only reason is you can't find them here in Canada. Cost me a arm and a leg to ship it here. Not complaining as it does a good job on baking bread but sure wish I could have found one closer to home.
